Van Ruitenbeek claims penultimate stage
By CYCLINGNEWS Steve Thomas
Three stages of around 200 kilometres each have made this year's Tour of Thailand something of a marathon event. Today's 208 kilometre stage was another hilly race, although nothing like as tough as the previous day.
Needles to say there were a lot of tired legs on the start line, but it didn't stop some eager early attacks. By the time the climbing started things had settled down to a more reasonable pace.
Towards the end of the race a small group of three riders slipped off the front, with Sengas -Kyota rider Malaya Van Ruitenbeek sprinting home to take the stage. There was no change to the leading overall positions, leaving Iranian rider Ahad Sarai Kazemi (Tabriz Petrochem) with a four second lead over Tonton Susanto (Faeso Denmark) heading into the final stage to Chiang Mai.
